Retail surcharging for qualified card-present merchants

Top Rank Commerce offers surcharging only for qualified card-present merchants. Card-not-present merchant accounts remain the primary focus.

Where it belongs

Surcharging is a retail service

For online merchants, we start with processor placement, gateway setup, fraud exposure, chargebacks, and funding. We discuss surcharging separately for retail merchants whose equipment, location, and customers make it appropriate.

Credit versus debit

Give the customer a clear payment choice

The surcharge applies only to eligible credit cards and must stay within applicable requirements and actual processing costs.

Debit and prepaid

No surcharge

Debit and prepaid cards are not surcharged. The terminal must identify and handle each card type correctly.

Eligible credit cards

Disclosed surcharge up to 3.00%

Qualified merchants can offset eligible credit-card costs, but debit, prepaid, surcharge caps, and state rules still apply.
